NEXT PARENT INFORMATION MEETING -- MAY 19, 6:30 PM
In order to lighten the homeschooling load, we will take a “One-Room-Schoolhouse” approach for Bible, history, and science as much as possible. Families will study the same historical time period and read the Bible aloud together, with older children having additional readings/work. Math & Language Arts work will be leveled, and/or grouped and looped, based on ability/grade.
We will pull from the following curricula:
Bible — The Bible. Greenleaf Guide to Old Testament History.
Read Alouds — student choice, teacher choice, and curriculum-guided
Reading/Phonics — All About Reading
Spelling — All About Spelling and Spelling Power
Language Arts — English for the Thoughtful Child (This gentle approach to Language Arts includes grammar and writing processes for the younger grades.)
Writing — 2nd & up — Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW)
Grammar – begins in 4th grade; Winston Grammar.
Handwriting — Handwriting without Tears; cursive starts in the 2nd grade.
Math — Horizons, Kinder; Singapore Primary Math US Edition, 1st-5th
Science — MasterBooks God’s Design series. (or Jay Wile’s Science in History series (K-6). Jay Wile’s textbooks, 7-12.)
History — TBD (options include: Mystery of History, Greenleaf Guides to History, or BiblioPlan).
Bible Memory Work and one Hymn per month
Electives - TBD
